A good editor is important!

My wonderful editor Mallory just saved my butt.

 I am going through a difficult revision—one that requires not so much word polishing—the words are all there but I need to re-structure the narrative arc. So Mallory wrote a very brief outline of how I might re-order such things. A new sequence, so to speak. I think it’s brilliant. Told her she was a genius and she wrote back that she is not a genius saying,  “I am the person who comes in to fold the sweaters and install new drawers  in the closet of  your mind.” My mind needs a lot of tidying up frequently.
