When Soren is pushed from his family's nest, he is captured by agents from a mysterious school for orphaned owls, St. Aggie's. Soren quickly discovers that there is more to St. Aggie's than meets the eye.

When Soren, a Barn Owl, is pushed from his family's nest by his older brother, he is rescued from certain death on the forest floor by agents from St. Aggie's, a mysterious school for orphaned owls. When Soren arrives at St. Aggie's, he suspects there is more to the school than meets the eye. He and his new friend, the clever and scrappy Gylfie, find out that St. Aggie's is more sinister than they could have imagined. Soren and Gylfie devise a way to flee the dangerous school and warn owls everywhere about the dangers that lurk in the forest. Together, these owls must find their way through a difficult and perilous journey, in order to save owlkind from the evil plots being hatched at St. Aggies.

"This was a delightful fantasy book for young readers; well-written and enjoyable, dealing with the fight between good and evil. Similar to the animal-populated Redwall books, all the characters in this book are owls, and all the information on the animals is well-researched, highly educational, and interwoven beautifully into the narrative. The main characters are clever, kind, and brave, and there is an excellent balance of male and female characters throughout the book. This was only the first book in the series, and I think there are fifteen total. And man, you will learn a lot about owls."
